how to know God

Since the beginning of your life on earth, you were designed to know God and purposed to have a deep, personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God for He has a purpose in our lives.  The secret to know Him is not found anywhere or anything than in an intimate and loving relationship with Jesus.

God knows who you are. He loves you. He wants you to know and love Him.

So how do you receive a deep, personal relationship with God?

1. First, realize that God loves you.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” — Jeremiah 31:3

 “God is love.” — 1 John 4:16

He loves you with a love that is unconditional. There is no human love comparable to His divine love. God loves you, and He wants to have fellowship with you. It doesn’t make any difference how far you tried to run from God. He loves you. His eye is on you. He sees you. God created us in his image, and you as a person are important to God. God is listening, and He loves you. He will put His arm around you, and He understands, and He answers, and He is sympathetic to your problem. God loves you, and the Bible says that God sent His Son from heaven to this earth for you. Jesus Christ came to this earth to take your sins upon a cross. When Jesus Christ was nailed to that cross, He did that for you. That’s how much He loves us.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” − John: 3:16

He would’ve died had you been the only person in the whole world. He loves you. Don’t ever forget He loves, loves, loves, loves you. God loves you and He has a plan for your life.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future” - Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”                - John 14:6

2. Realize Acknowledge that like everyone else, you are a sinner.

There is none righteous, not even one”- Romans 3:10.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 4:23.

Being sinners mean that we are imperfect and do wrong; we fall short of God’s perfect standard. It also means we are separated from Him and deserve His judgment. We are sinners by nature. We cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ. No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a good person because we are all sinners. We all fall short of God's desire for us to be holy.

The Bible says, "there is none righteous, not even one”- Romans 3:10. The Bible also says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 4:23.

We are sinners by nature. We cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.

3. Personally believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.

The Bible tells us, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while were still sinners” - Romans 5:8.

This is the Good News (Ungil Chais), that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it. Jesus Christ came to this earth to take your sins upon the cross. When Jesus Christ was nailed to that cross, He did that for you. That’s how much He loves you.

Yes, God sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Jesus died for your sins. He was punished in your place so you don’t have to be. Furthermore, He defeated death – after three days, Jesus rose from the dead, alive again!

Trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice for you is the only way to find forgiveness from God and to begin a relationship with Him. We urge you to take this step of faith today.

4. Repent of your sins.

The Bible tells us to repent of our sins and turn to God, so that our sins may be wiped away - Acts 3:19. The word “repent” means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can turn and run toward Him.

5. Receive Jesus Christ into your life.

Becoming a Christian is not merely believing, following religious beliefs, going to church regularly, or reading your bible. It is having Christ take residence in your heart and life.

Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door [of your life] and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in. . .” - Revelation 3:20.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6

No matter who you are, or how you’ve lived your life, God will receive you into His family. He will change you and make you complete. Trust Him as millions of others have done and experienced His mercy for you.

If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply talk to God – this is called praying and tell Him you believe in His Son. Simply say this prayer and mean it in your heart.

Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. I ask your forgiveness and now turn from everything which I know is wrong. Thank you for dying on the cross for me to set me free from my sins. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and be with me forever. I confess you as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer with a sincere heart, know that Jesus Christ has now taken residence in your heart! Your decision to follow Christ means God has forgiven you and that you will spend eternity in heaven.

The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” - 1 John 1:9.
